Various Artists - John Peel: A Tribute

The list of bands who should be on this record but arent would make for quite a weighty tomb but one things for sure, which this review picks up on fantastically, is that they couldnt have created a much poorer line-up than the one on display in this horrendous cash-in. What amazes me is that it was allowed past his family and all I can assume is that they had no say in the matter as I simply cannot understand how they would want his memory desecrated in this way. "Do you remember John Peel?" goes one side of a horrible conversation from the future, "Yeah, he's the old indie guy who was always playing that Undertones song wasnt he?". This is the future which a travesty like this is creating as we speak and breathe. Im pissed off, I can tell you that.

please, pardon my language but this is fucken disgusting. even if it was heaving with Cannibal Corpse, The Fall E.N.T. and Enya, it would still be fucken disgusting. No one, and I mean no one, needs a Peel compilation. If you listened to him you know, if you didn't you had yr chance. This is, and could only be, about making pennies and anyone switched on enough will know this. Peel would've been appalled and amused and if alive would've backheeled any offers of such bollocks. this has almost ruined my day.

honestly, I don't know much about the prolific Mr. Peel, but I really like the IDEA of him and what he did. I think a really well done box set is in order, a real 10-disker with a color booklet and a piece of john peels old jeans. i want to get to know the fellow.

The world DOES need a John Peel collection. It is called Fabric Live.07, was compiled by the man himself, is a very accurate representation of what Peel was all about.

a compilation BY John Peel is indeed permissable. a compilation by agents of dilution and piss is not. its just not possible to do the man justice. leave him be, please.
