i really liked byla's debut, and the notion of black metal without the metal puts me in mind of sunn0)))'s 'black I,' a fantastic record. i'll admit i'm put off by jarboe's involvement, though. i loved her in swans, but she's pretty hit-and-miss w/ these collaborative things, and a beatless ambient outing with her on vocals (even "vocals")? it has me pretty skeptical. i'll need to hear it first.
