The Polyphonic Spree - The Fragile Army

Thank you. I've been saying it for some time now: Arcade Fire are just Bizarro Polyphonic Spree.

fuck me, you'd have to be one saddo depressed dude to find anything by the spree "relentless sonic optimism". they make A Day in the Life sound like the beatles were actually happy. they make karen carpenter sound like she really was on top of the world. damn, but if the spree aren't the most slit-yer-wrists anti-antidepressant around then im lou reed. try listening to that shit man, its a fucken requiem

Not quite sure how this album rates as "relentless sonic optimism" given some of the surprisingly dark content. Can I ask how many times you listened to it before coming to that conclusion? For me, a fan of the band live but somebody who hasnt really given a shit about them on record before this album has blown me away and has been on almost constant repeat for a week now, managing the none too shoddy feat of keeping both the new Justice and Interpol efforts out of the player.
