Electrelane - No Shouts, No Calls
Best album of their career? Really? They were essential from the moment Rock It To The Moon was released. I was surprised by how good Axes was after the pretty but ineffective Power Out. This has more of the great RITTM elements that Power Out, but I think it lacks the deviance and darkness of Axes, so I can't help but feel somwehat underwhelmed by it.

Great band though, absolutely.
As well as better tunes than before (though that's subjective - but so is everything else) this has more direction than Axes, but also, most importantly, I think there's a really warm emotional pull and uplift to this that's almost entirely new for them, and I find it wonderful.
It's a very solid set of songs, probably the most consistent thing they've done, but like Meatbreak there I can't help feeling that it's a little bit lacking in 'edginess'.. they seem to have settled into a comfortable sound since The Power Out, would've liked to see them stretch their borders a little more on this.
While I wouldn't go so far as to say that this album is the best of their career (The Power Out blew me away when I first heard it), I will agree that this is a fantastic album from an even more fantastic group. Plus, Saturday is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard this year.
this band is so boring live.
