just curious, but why is an album with an 'A' rating bested for 'Album of the Week' by an album with an 'A-' rating?

I think the better question would be why are Eels nominated for album of the week? Eels? Really? The keys on their newest single (I think it's their newest) sound oddly similar to those in VU's 'Sunday Morning,' too much so for my taste.

As an editor here at Stylus, and one who happens to have a large say in AOW, I can tell you that the selection has almost nothing to do with the best record under review that week. Often, it's simply a record we feel like highlighting, or one that a significant portion of the staff has gotten behind. We in no way intend it as a means of praising that week's best record, as evidenced by the fact that we often give AOWs a B+ or so.
