It's frustrating to me that I can't get into this at all. I bought that Madvillain CD and it just did *nothing* for me. I listened to it a dozen or so times in the first two weeks after I'd gotten it, and it never starting grow on me. Which is a shame because, from what I'd heard about it, it sounded right up my alley, but it frankly just kind of bored me.

Yeah tin ears will do that to you ;) Incidently I think this album is better than Rollie does. No sophomore slump fool.

ya know j., i felt the same way about the madvillain... just sort of, boring. fucking LOVED king geedra though, that record's been on around here in heavy rotation for nearly a year now. haven't heard this one yet, but if it's anything like king gheedorah that would definitely be a letdown

i believe this album is a slump of any kind, although the song sequence is highly questionable. what was with that 20+ track 'mm food' that was leaked MONTHS ago? i heard that and was really excited for the official release, but honestly i think the leak is better.

admittedly the instrumentals section in the middle could lose a few listeners. personally, i find it to be a good little break between amazing songs. the first time i listened to this album i was a bit disappointed, but after a few listens i'm realizing that "kon karne" is pure genius, as is "beef rap", "vomitspit", and of course "kookies", which uses the kookie monsters' theme music superbly blended with simple yet effective drums. overall, i'd call this quality stuff. there are a few tracks that could be dropped, but there's also some amazing stuff. sort of like geedorah's album.
