Top Ten Underrated Morrissey Solo Songs - Staff Top 10

Great job, Gentry. Not the same 10 I would have picked, but of course, that's the fun of these things, isn't it? I do still hate "Late Night, Maudlin Street" myself... and can I just name "Hairdresser On Fire"? "Busy clippers" indeed!

Sorry to be anal, but the track is actually titled "Boxers".

Hut: I've always been ambivalent towards "Hairdresser." It seemed like such a banal subject for a Moz song. Although, I do love the verse where Moz feigns sympathy for the hairdresser who was threatened by a customer in an attempt to gain favor, and thus, move up in the "diary." :) Cam: Thanks for the correction, my slip.

ha! i think i used "i'd love to" on a mix-tape once. how embarrassing. i wonder, though. which version are you referring to? i'm not too crazy about the version on the "the more you ignore me,..." single. i'd say that a lot of songs on "kill uncle" are underrated.

Trouser: I'm thinking of covering it in an attempt at wooing an infatuation: <---more embarassing. :) I thought there was only one version of "I'd Love To." Isn't the "Ignore Me" single version the same as the one on "My Early Burglary Years"? I was close to putting "Our Frank" on the list, but thought that it really wasn't that underrated, so I didin't. "Driving Your Girlfriend Home" was close to the top 10 as well, but I already talked about it in an earlier Stylus Mixtape feature, so I thought I'd write about something else. But yeah, "Kill Uncle" is underrated in general. I'm starting to like it more than "Vauxhall and I" Thanks for the words.

I liked all of your choices...except 'Late Night Maudlin Street'. maybe 'Spring-Heeled Jim' or 'Piccadilly Palare' instead, unless you think those aren't at all overrated. (I think pretty much all of Morrissey's solo work either fits into a 'horribly overrated' or 'horribly underrated' category.)

I can see by it not being mentioned in the both the article nor the resulting comments, that "That's Entertainment," Morrissey's brilliant version of the song by The Jam, is most definitely under appreciated and underrated.
