The Last Sane Man: Bill Hicks
ps - if you have any interest at all in the works, philosophy and opinions of Bill H., do yourself a favour and go and check out www.sacredcow.com, where you'll find plenty of multimedia interviews and standup that you will not find anywhere else. Also, have a gander at the works of the other fine contemporary comics, social critics and assorted left-of-the-dial philosophers that Kevin's collected there. Have fun... DMcG
I wondered, for a brief moment, what Bill Hicks would have said about William Hung. It then occurred to me Bill Hicks would have acknowledged him politely, but request everyone at the Fox Network to kill themselves.
Thanks for writing this. Hicks was the only comedian that has made me laugh so hard, so long that I couldn't breath and I thought I was going to pass out. I'm not sure if his work will ever be palatable to 'middle America' though. I would say that his work remained relatively underground in America because the truth hurts too much for the public at large to deal with, but that is the same reason my fundamentallist father would give for all the world not believing in Jesus. Bill and Jesus, the cure that kills.
