Nice review of what is easily my favorite film of the year, and quite nice to see Stylus giving it its due. Weerasethakul is perhaps the only director working today who truly knows how to let images themselves be sufficient. His patience is breathtaking. The second half of "Tropical Malady" contains some of the most beautiful images ever captured on camera. Make sure to check out the Director's Commentary on the new Region 1 DVD, its great to hear him talking about the film with perhaps the best working film critic today, Chuck Stephens of the Village Voice. Among the pearls revealed: the body at the beginning of "Tropical Malady" is that of the man who wanders off, never to return, in "Blissfully Yours." Perfect.
