Get Rich or Die Tryin’ - Movie Review
Personally, I vote for Die Tryin'.
How come when people mean "pun intended", they write/say "no pun intended." If you didn't intend a pun, you would either choose a different verb, or neglect to mention the pun at all.
I agree completely about the "no/pun intended" comment and I was struck exactly the same way as I was reading it. The only things bigger than Spiderman 1/2's budgets were the gratuitous use of product placement, blatant sexism and exploitation of post 9/11 patriotism that the films shamelessly flaunted.
I think the fact that the film comes off a bit like a modern superhero-worship piece is because Sheridan's direction tends to make characters evolve and then retain a state of seemingly above and beyond human qualities (See: ...all his other films). When you have 50 getting shot up and returning to the scene with an internal mission and new mental and psyical "powers", elements are brought in that lead astray his more "down-to-earth" aspects as a musician and a human being.
