Busta Rhymes sucks, but yeah, in his glory days he had some tight ass basslines pumping under his growl. I also enjoyed the Humpty Dance inclusion. Good stuff.

Missy Elliot's Whatcha Gon' Do has the sort of bassline Clem might call "relentless."

mixed bag of a list (I'm also happy to see Newcleus...wikki wikki wikki wikki...), but why "Don't Sweat The Technique" over the one bassline I never would have thought to not see on this list (and THE Eric B. and Rakim song as far as many are concerned), "Paid In Full"? I also might have thrown in "Bassline" by Mantronix. it's dope.

Not that I secretly prefer it to the original or anything, but that mashup of "Hip Hop" and the Flaming Lips "One More Robot/Sympathy 3000-21" was pretty hot. I'm just sayin'.

Maybe it's just me, but leaving out "Choice Is Yours" by Black Sheep seems Kriminal.

how exactly do you define "obscurantism" so we know what you're avoiding and what was mearly overlooked?

eazy e - "real mothafuckin' g's"
mobb deep - "shook ones"
