if you downloaded an mp3 Second Edition you still haven't heard it--it has to be played on vinyl to be worth listening to at all, else the bass evaporates. First Issue is even better...lucky you, so much to look forward to. Best band logo ever?
I totally agree that Second Edition must be heard on vinyl. The quality of it's CD issues is notoriously bad. When I was deep in my post-punk phase I got some MP3s of the band and wondered what the point was. Later, I picked up the LP version and loved it.
If you can, get the original "Metal Box" pressing, which was four 12"-single singles packed into a metal film cannister. The records are packaged so that nicks and scrapes are unavoidable, therefore adding to the dreary music. Hey Robsheff, you aren't Rob Sheffield, are you?
