I take no great pleasure in offering a mix that I’m not 100% happy with to you, but as Kurtis Blow might say…
Crambe Repetita– Study #1
Pawel – Grab It (Dial)
Wignomy Brothers – Wurz and Blosse (Kompakt Extra)
Gwen Stefani – What Are You Waiting For? (Jacques Lu Cont’s TWD Mix) (Interscope)
Scissor Sisters- Comfortably Numb (Paper Faces Mix) (Polydor)
Pan Tone- Zut Alore, Je Vous Adore (Bip-Hop)
Alcazar- This Is The World We Live In (Soundfactory Club Anthem) (BMG)
Alex Kid- Don’t Hide It (Alex Kid’s Acid Dub) (F-Communications)
Le Dust Sucker- Mean Boy (Plong!)
Laurie Anderson- O Superman (??? Mix) (???)
As far as the mixing goes, it’s for the most part passable. There are only some minor transitions that I worried about sounding too clunky: particularly the Scissor Sisters into Alcazar. The fact that it goes from an electro-house tune into something approaching deep-house, though, I think might explain that. In any case, I call this one “Study #1” as I regard it as more of an experiment than anything else—a sort of haphazard joining of some current dance music that’s struck my fancy.
Shout outs must go to Ronan and Tricky Disco of ILM and the always spot-on Andrew Weatherall for talking about and hyping a few tracks on here that I might have never heard otherwise.
