I really wish this had been the first single, just so I could witness the collective coronary. Co-written by the dude from Goldfinger.

John Mayer– Home Life, [Heavier Things]

If you’re one of those whiny ign’nt little punk-ass bitches who hate on Travistan (an album that raises in my esteem every time I hear it), I suggest you check out the finer tracks on John Mayer’s sophomore release, which sounds like the smoothed-out romance-obsessed follow-up to Change many were dying for—when it doesn’t sound like another reason to hate Stevie Ray Vaughn. Just ignore the rasp and pretend he ends verses with some superfluous “yeah”’s. “Bigger Than My Body” was even more D-Plany but that was a single so I’m gonna wow you with an wry album track instead. “I will tell you this much / I will marry just once / If it doesn’t work out / Give her half of my stuff / It’s fine with me / We said ‘eternity.’ ”

Kimya Dawson – You Love Me, [Hidden Vagenda]

Where are the really twee, emo mp3 blogs? I’m grateful for the obscurities old and new but where are the people bawling about their romantic frustration and posting a song that sums it up? It’s a logical evolution from italicized lyrics. Though it could get old fast, I’d like to see some sap-happy, non-nerdy efforts. Here’s mine.
