With the arrival of October, I shall be devoting a large portion of my film watching this month to horror films as a way of celebrating the approach of Halloween. Last year I implemented this policy in a casual manner, watching a number of horror films merely because it felt festive. This year, however, I’ve decided to make this something of a perennial tradition. No horror film is off-limits provided that I haven’t seen it before. I may make a few exceptions and review a few of my personal favorites, but for the most part I shall be consuming all new material.

Assuming I can keep up with myself on this little task, I will do my best to share with you my thoughts on the films I view. From classics I’ve too long overlooked like Tod Browning’s Dracula and Dario Argento’s Opera, to cult films like Tombs of the Blind Dead and Re-Animator, I hope you enjoy the aftermath of these viewings even if it comes at the cost of my own enjoyment and patience. In addition, if anyone out there has any suggestions for future horror screenings, feel free to offer them up. Provided that they meet the meager criteria that I’ve imposed, chances are I’ll check them out.
